 2024 Middle School Season Starts Soon!

The Middle School bowling season kicks off Saturday, September 21st, with a record 10 schools competing.  The following schools are fielding teams this year:

  • Amherst Steele
  • Avon  (New)
  • Avon Lake
  • Firelands
  • Keystone
  • Lutheran West  (New)
  • Midview
  • North Olmsted
  • North Ridgeville  (New)
  • Open Door CS

This will be the second year officially under the North Shore Bowling Conference.  Matt Collier (Avon Lake) has transitioned into the Middle School Coordinator very nicely and has put in many hours to get the program ready for this year. A big THANK YOU to the coaches from Amherst, Avon Lake & North Olmsted who started this program informally 5 years ago.

 Celebration Of Life

It is with great sadness that we must report that a tragedy has struck our friends from Firelands. On August 13,2024 Alicia Golden, a member of the Firelands girls varsity team, suddenly passed away.

Alicia was just a few weeks away from starting her junior year at JVS in the baking & culinary arts program. She was a member of the Firelands bowling team for two years and contributed to the team's recent success.

The NSBC board and member coaches extend our deepest condolences to her family, teammates, coaches & the entire Firelands community that is trying to cope with this incredible loss.

The family wishes to share that there will be a Celebration Of Life for Alicia on Sunday, August 25th from 1-4pm at Park Lanes in Amherst:

 2024 Bowlero Youth Classic

Middle School & High School bowlers - here's a chance to bowl in tournaments and earn money for college! Bowlero will be awarding over $1,000,000 in scholarship funds across all 40 hosting centers, donating $24,000 per tournament.

There are 3 age divisions: 9 Years and Under, 10 - 13 Years, 14 - 17 Years. Age is as of 8/1/2023, with proof of age required at check-in.

The next local tournament will be at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton, Ohio, on June 8th-9th.

 2024 NSBC Scholarship Tournament - RESULTS

The 2024 NSBC Scholarship Tournament was held on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at Strikeout Lanes (boys) and Rebman Recreation (girls). The tournament paid out $2,700 in scholarship money!

All scholarships earned are deposited through the SMART scholarship program with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). It usually takes several weeks for the scholarship notices to come back to the winners. All winners - please watch out for an email from Bowl.com or USBC with the key needed later for your scholarship when you are ready to redeem for college.

The girls were split into two divisions based on averages: 150 and higher, 149 and lower. Boys were also split into two divisions: 170 and up, 169 and lower.

 Avon Lake's Sean Gallagher Rolls A 300 Game

In the NSBC Scholarship tournament on Sunday, March 17th, Avon Lake's Sean Gallagher added his name into the NSBC record books by throwing a perfect 300 game at Strikeout Lanes in Wellington. He becomes the third NSBC bowler to be perfect this season and the 16th all-time.

Sean's day did not get off to a great start as he was unable to make it on time for the tournament. Due to tournament rules, he was forced to take no score through the first 4 frames of the first game. He started to get comfortable in the second game, throwing a 184. Sean's last game was when the magic happened with his perfect 300 game. For his efforts, Sean took the top score for his division with scholarship dollars attached to that as well. Congrats to Sean on his achievement!

 NSBC Teams/Individuals Perform Well At State

A number of our conference teams & individuals left their mark at state this year with some outstanding performances.

Topping the list for the NSBC teams was the Avon Lake HS Boys with their Division 1 State Runnerup result. They had an incredible run and took the defending champion all the way to the last Baker game before coming up just a little short of the championship. The Amherst Steele HS Boys finished 16th in the very tough Division 1. From the girls side, the Amherst Steele HS Girls finished 9th, missing out on the finals bracket by just 8 pins.

For the NSBC individuals who competed at state, an amazing total of 7 finished in the top 20 in their respective divisions! For D1 Boys - Jacek Gomez from Avon Lake HS finished 5th, Sean Gallagher from Avon Lake HS finished 10th, and Atticus Alldredge from Avon Lake HS finished 17th. For D1 Girls - Sabrina Stawicki from Amherst Steele HS finished 7th and Peyton Zakrajsek from Amherst Steele HS finished 19th. For D2 Girls - Whitney Kirschner from Wellington HS finished 7th and Gabriella Riba from Open Door Christian HS finished 15th.

The 2024 OHSAA Division 2 Lorain Sectionals was held on Sunday, February 11th at AMF Medina Lanes in Lorain. On the boys side, there were 11 of our NSBC teams competing. For the girls, there were 12 of our NSBC teams competing.

 Berea-Midpark's Jayden Miller Rolls A 300 Game

In the match between Berea-Midpark and Elyria Catholic on Wednesday, February 7th, Berea-Midpark's Jayden Miller added his name into the NSBC record books by throwing a perfect 300 game at Rollhouse North Olmsted. He becomes the second NSBC bowler to be perfect this season and the 15th all-time.

Jayden started the match with his perfect 300 game then followed with the 193 game for an impressive 493 series. Congrats to Jayden on his achievement!

 Avon Lake's Cam Thorpe Rolls A 298 Game

In the match between Avon Lake and Firelands on Wednesday, January 31st, Avon Lake's Cam Thorpe rolled near perfection with an impressive 298 game at Rebman Recreation.

Cam started the match with a very solid 200 game then followed with the 298 game for a 498 series - the second best so far in Division 1. Congrats to Cam on his achievement!

 Fairview Park's Cole Joseph Rolls A 300 Game

In the make-up match between Fairview Park and Oberlin on Tuesday, January 16th, Fairview Park's Cole Joseph etched his name into the NSBC record books by throwing a perfect 300 game at Fairview Lanes. He becomes the first NSBC bowler to be perfect this season and the 14th all-time.

Cole started the match with a very solid 210 game then followed with the 300 game for an impressive 510 series - the best so far in Division 2. Congrats to Cole on his achievement!

If you would still like to participate and have not registered, show up to the correct bowling center at least 1/2 hour BEFORE the start time to register in-person. ALL IN-PERSON REGISTRATIONS REQUIRES A $5.00 LATE FEE!

Important Details

  • You must be a paid member of the NSBC to be eligible to bowl
  • LATE REGISTRATION REQUIRES A $5.00 LATE FEE
  • You must have a verifiable average of 9 games or more in any youth program (proof required)
  • Highest average will be used if you bowl in multiple leagues
  • If no youth league average, your NSBC High School League average will be used
  • Handicap is 90% of 220 average
  • You will bowl three games - highest series with handicap wins
  • Number of participants will determine the number of scholarships awarded
  • All scholarship money will be deposited through the USBC Smart Scholarship Fund
  • Late bowlers take zero for frames missed
  • The divisions will be set by adding all entrants averages for each division (boy & girl), dividing by the amount of entries for that division - this will result in a nearly equal split field for upper and lower average bowlers to compete

The North Shore Bowling Conference will be well represented again at state this year. A total of 3 teams and 4 individual bowlers will be competing at H.P. Lanes in Columbus either March 1-2, or March 8-9, 2024.

The NSBC will be represented by 4 boys teams, 2 individual boys, 2 girls teams and 3 individual girls.

The top 4 boys teams and top 4 girls teams will advance to State. Also, the top 4 individual boys and top 4 individual girls from non-qualifying schools will also advance to State. This year, State will be at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on March 8st (boys) and March 9nd (girls).

 NSBC Conference Tournament At Rebman Recreation Saturday/Sunday

The annual NSBC Conference Tournament will be held over two days this coming weekend at Rebman Recreation in Lorain. $5 ADMISSION - CASH ONLY - FOR ALL NON-COMPETING ATTENDEES! The tournament will be held in two shifts - all Division 2 schools will bowl on Saturday, February 3rd and all Division 1 schools will bowl on Sunday, February 4th. All teams will bowl 3 regular games and 6 bakers. Champions will be awarded for D-1 boys, D-1 girls, D-2 boys and D-2 girls.

All Division 2 schools (Black River, Brookside, Clearview, Columbia, Elyria Catholic, Fairview Park, Firelands, Keystone, Lutheran West, Oberlin Open Door & Wellington) will bowl Saturday, February 3rd - doors will open at 7:30am, coaches meeting at 8:15am, warmups at 8:40am, uniform inspection & National Anthem will be at 8:55am with competition beginning at 9:00am. The Division 2 boys and girls team winners will be named at the conclusion of this session.

All Division 1 schools (Amherst Steele, Avon, Avon Lake, Berea-Midpark, Buckeye, Elyria, Lorain, Midview, North Olmsted, North Ridgeville, Olmsted Falls & Westlake) - doors will open at 7:30am, coaches meeting at 8:15am, warmups at 8:40am, uniform inspection & National Anthem will be at 8:55am with competition beginning at 9:00am. The Division 1 boys and girls team winners will be named at the conclusion of this session.

 NSBC JV Tournament At Nautical Lanes Sunday

The annual NSBC JV Tournament will be held this coming Sunday, January 28th, at Spevock's Nautical Lanes in Avon Lake. FREE ADMISSION! The tournament will be held in two shifts - all Division 2 schools in the morning and all Division 1 schools in the afternoon. All teams will bowl 2 regular games and 5 bakers. Champions will be awarded for Division 1 & Division 2 boys and combined girls (due to low team count).

Division 2 - Doors will open at 6:30am, coaches meeting at 7:15am, warmups at 7:40am, uniform inspection & National Anthem will be at 7:55am with competition beginning at 8:00am. Teams competing in this session are: Black River boys, Brookside boys, Clearview boys and girls, Fairview boys and girls, Lutheran West boys, Elyria Catholic boys and girls, Firelands boys, Keystone boys and Open Door boys. The Division 2 boys team winner will be named at the conclusion of this session.

Division 1 - Coaches meeting at 12:15pm, warmups at 12:40pm, uniform inspection & National Anthem will be at 12:55pm with competition beginning at 1:00pm. Teams competing in this session are: Amherst boys and girls, Avon Lake boys, Avon boys, Berea/Midpark boys, Buckeye boys, Elyria boys, Olmsted Falls boys, Midview boys and girls, North Olmsted boys and merged girls team with Elyria, North Ridgeville boys and girls and Westlake boys. The Division 1 boys team winner and overall girls team winner will be named at the conclusion of this session.

 2023 Middle School Season Has Ended

The middle school season, which kicked off Saturday, September 23rd, concluded with the last matches on Sunday, November 5th.  The following schools are fielded teams this year:

The NSBC adopted the program this year and in its inaugural year Open Door CS and Midview joined, bringing us up to seven school districts. This season we had 124 bowlers representing those 7 school districts, making up 22 teams in the Boys "A", Boys "B" and "Girls" divisions.  2023 Middle School Season Starts This Weekend!

The Middle School bowling season kicks off Saturday, September 23rd, with 7 schools competing.  The following schools are fielding teams this year:

  • Amherst
  • Avon Lake
  • Firelands
  • Keystone
  • Midview  (New)
  • North Olmsted
  • Open Door CS  (New)

This is the first year officially under the North Shore Bowling Conference.  The Middle School Coordinator Willie Smith (Firelands) has put in many hours to get the program incorporated into the NSBC. A big THANK YOU to the coaches from Amherst, Avon Lake & North Olmsted who started this program informally 4 years ago.

 OHSBCA 22-23 All-District Bowlers

The Ohio High School Bowling Coaches Association (OHSBCA) has released the 2022-2023 All-District award winners with 31 NSBC bowlers being selected!

This year's selections breaks down to 18 boys (Division 1: 13, Division 2: 5) and 13 girls (Division 1: 8, Division 2: 5).

 State-Bound NSBC Teams/Individuals

The North Shore Bowling Conference will be well represented at state this year. A total of 4 teams and 2 individual bowlers will be competing at Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl Lanes either March 3-4, or March 10-11, 2023.

The 2023 OHSAA Division 1 Lorain Sectionals was held on Sunday, February 19th at AMF North Ridgeville Lanes in North Ridgeville. On the boys side, there were 12 of our NSBC teams competing. For the girls, there were 9 of our NSBC teams competing.
